Matt Hill

Meet Me

My name is Matthew Hill. I'm a 2006 Stanford Graduate Fellow in the Mechanical Engineering Department's Design division at Stanford University. Prior to my studies at Stanford I completed my undergraduate in mechanical engineering at Olin College in Boston. At Stanford I'm presently working in Prof. Gunter Niemeyer's Telerobotics laboratory on novel haptic interfaces.

In addition to my interest in robotics and teleoperation, which was developed during my internships with the US Department of Defense and at iRobot Corporation, I'm also strongly interested in consumer product design. After completing my undergraduate degree I interned at the Boston office of IDEO, one of the premiere design firms in the US. Having once contemplated art school and minored in anthropology, product design and development seems like an ideal outlet for my many interests and is an area I hope to work in after completing my graduate work.

Finally, outside of my studies I play as an outside hitter on the Stanford Men's Club Volleyball Team, and enjoy hiking and backpacking the many gorgeous national parks in California.
